Weight Loss
It is important to our Dietitian that you think of eating as a way of life. There are no quick fixes that will provide you with the changes you want for a lifetime. When beginning to work with a client on weight loss our Dietitian never has a preset plan. We cater the information to your needs and your lifestyle. Individuals learn and respond differently. You will learn how to set goals and the ground work to achieve those goals. Since everyone's needs are different, here is a list of services provided to assist you in reaching your weight goals:
Restaurant Dining
Everyone eats out. It has become a staple in the American lifestyle. If you eat out frequently, it does not mean you can not lose weight. Our Dietitian will show you simple methods to decrease portions and kcal, yet still eat the foods you enjoy.
Perceived Eating
This is a basic concept based on eating when you are hungry and stopping when you are no longer hungry. Included will be tips on how to modify methods that will eliminate the usual drudgery of measuring foods and counting calories. You will learn how to lose weight and not sacrifice your favorite foods.
Structured Exchange Program
We can provide you with an outline of exchanges detailed to your kcal needs, weight loss, or maintenance goals. All diets are based on current weight loss research. Our Dietitian will show you how to use the exchange program to fit your favorite foods into your diet.
Portion Sizes
So much of the time people know what foods to choose to eat, but have difficulty in determining the right portion. Our Dietitian will go over the proper sizes of portions, how to physically decrease portions, and how this can be done without using a scale.
Nutrient Dense vs. Energy Dense Foods
This method is based on the weight of the food. Some foods are very high in kcal even for a small weight portion such as fried potato chips. While other foods such as meat, whole wheat pasta, fruits, and vegetables are lower in kcal and higher in nutrients compared to the same weight of food.
